The Sony Xperia Z5 is a great smartphone, but once again is an incremental update from its predecessor - the fingerprint scanner being the biggest new feature. Although the Z5 is a durable device with fast and clean software, you’ll have to ask yourself if it’s worth it’s price tag.

The device has got thicker and heavier compared with the previous model. It's now 7.3mm and 154g compared to 6.9mm and 144g. Although that's not a big difference, the Z5 doesn't feel as nice in the hand compared to rivals. The square shape just isn't as ergonomic and there are places ...

We wanted to like the Xperia Z5, but Sony isn't making it easy for us. This otherwise good-looking phone doesn't feel quite right in the hand. The software experience moves at a satisfying pace, but comes with a bunch of issues and imperfections that don't quite suit its price point.

    Sony Xperia Z5 Review

Sony’s latest flagship phone is the Sony Xperia Z5 brings about quite a few changes from the previous Sony Xperia Z3 plus .

    Sony Xperia Z5 : Design & Specifications

First of all looking at the hardware the Sony Xperia Z5 has a large 5.2 inch full HD triluminos display running the Snapdragon 810 processor with 3GB of RAM. Remaining on the front of the device you have Sony’s 5 megapixel front facing camera and one of the dual front facing speakers with the other at the bottom of the device just below the screen.
Moving on to the back of the handset there is an upgraded 23 MP camera with an f2.0 sensor along with LED flash to help in low light conditions. On the right hand side of the Sony Xperia z5 the controls remain quite similar with the power button volume rocker and dedicated camera button, however a new and improved feature is the inbuilt fingerprint sensor on the volume button allowing you to unlock the device just like we have seen on many of other high-end smartphones.

On the bottom is a micro USB port used for charging the device which is no longer covered like on previous versions despite this, the phone is still fully waterproof. Then on the left side of the handset is the Nano SIM and micro SD cards slot which is covered and finally on the top of the device is a 3.5 millimetre headphone socket along with the secondary microphone.

The Sony Xperia Z5 comes with 32GB of internal storage and if that’s not enough the micro USD slot gives you the ability to expand that even further.
The Sony Xperia Z5 is running Android 5.1.1 with Sony’s custom user interface which is quite similar to the Android stock UI. We really did notice how fast and smooth this phone was when moving around applications thanks to that snapdragon 810 processor, it really does make a difference compared to previous devices.

    Sony Xperia Z5 : Camera

Along with the built-in fingerprint sensor one of the most exciting features is the new 23 megapixel camera. It has super fast and rapid auto focus taking milliseconds to lock onto the subject. Even in low light the auto focus did a great job. Sony have produced fantastic cameras in the past and you feel the Sony Xperia Z5 camera will not disappoint. In addition to the upgraded camera so have kept the full 4K video with Steady Shot technology giving great image stabilization for both video and still images.
As before mentioned the Sony Xperia Z5 has two front facing speakers producing good, rich sound and a marked improvement over previous flagship devices but still a little quiet compared to the market leaders in this area. Due to the high resolution display, quality camera and other technology in the Sony Xperia Z5 you may think the battery life would suffer however, Sony have included a 2900 mAh battery which does fantastically well at powering all these features easily lasting a full day.
All in all the Sony Xperia Z5 looks like a fantastic flagship for Sony incorporating some great new features into its iconic exterior.
