    You do get quite a lot of phone for the money: The display is sharp; the fingerprint sensor works as promised; the performance is smooth; and you get a decent camera too. Even though the OnePlus 2 and the Moto X Pure offer a better deal and slightly better specs, they lack that speedy fingerprint sensor and don't deliver a pure Android experience, which is important to those who want timelier upgrades.

    The benefit, as with any Nexus phone or tablet, is that you get pure Android as Google intends it to be – no add on skins like Samsung's TouchWiz or HTC's Sense. Not only does it offer something of a blank canvas with which to customise Android to your heart's content, it means you don't have to worry about things like pre-installed apps which you may not be able to delete.

    The Nexus 5X is at the vanguard of a new wave of smartphones. First established by Google with the hugely popular Nexus 5, and followed by phones such as the OnePlus One and OnePlus 2, this new breed of phone sits neatly between the low-cost Moto Gs and the flagship iPhones of this world in an attempt to offer the best of both – a smartphone that aims to have everything you need, but none of what you don’t.

    LG Nexus 5X Review

    The LG Nexus 5x is the smaller brother of Googles flagship smartphone made by Hauawi the Nexus 6P and the successor to Nexus 5.

    Some of the key features of the Nexus 5X are…

    • Slim unassuming but classy design with soft round edges.

    • Android Marshmallow unskinned

    • Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor;

    • 12.3-megapixels, f/2.0 rear camera;

    • 5.2-inch, (1080p) 424ppi display

    LG Nexus 5X : Design

    The LG Nexus 5X is Googles and LG’s mid-range smartphone. The design is pretty generic and very functional. Unlike many of todays devices the LG Nexus 5x isnt made with a metal or glass finish and nor would you expect it. Due to its matt plastic finish and size the LG Nexus 5X is really comfortable in the hand. The phone is compact, lightweight, has plenty of grip and is excellent for one handed usage.

    Just like many of the modern smartphones the LG Nexus 5X comes with a fingerprint sensor but not on the front of the device like we are use to. Instead, it has been located on the back of the handset and is super-fast which makes unlocking the device almost unnoticeable.

    On the sides of the device you have the power / lock button / quick camera access button, the volume up and down buttons. Whilest the 3.5 mm headphone socket and charging port are found located on the bottom of the handset.

    LG Nexus 5X : Display

    The LG Nexus 5X sports a nice 5.2 inch IPS LCD display which is full HD with a pixel density of 423 PPI. Some of the midrange and cheaper devices on the market tend to have cheaper and low quality displays but the Nexus 5X is pretty good with good colour temperature and visibility even outside in the sunlight. The colour reproduction is fantastic considering its price point producing true to life colour tones. Overall the display is pretty sharp and vibrant.

    LG Nexus 5X : OS

    One of the main features and attractions of the Nexus 5X is the unskinned and villian Android Marshmallow 6.0. Meaning that there is no third party software over the top making it faster, slicker and less cluttered than most other Android experiences. Many people we have encountered really prefer this fresh and unhindered version of Android and it comes with the added bonus of being the first to receive all the latest updates from Google.

    One of these new updates is the contextually aware “Google Now on Tap” feature. It a little like Google now but instead of searching based on a voice command it scans your current screen to see what you are reading and brings up relevant information. Say a friends send you a message about a certain film, Google Now on Tap will scan the message and bring up results such as the actors, film trailer etc. It is really quite useful and although it is not 100% its getting better and better with each other and something that many people may really enjoy.

    LG Nexus 5X : Hardware Specifications

    As we alluded to before the all around performance of the LG Nexus 5X is pretty solid. With a Hexa Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor, Adreno 418 GPU, 2GB RAM and 16/32GB of internal storage depending on the model of course.

    Now this isn’t the fastest chipset in the world but along with Android Marshmallow it performs well with a fair amount of responsiveness and launches applications quite promptly. On top of this the Nexus 5X handles graphics for video and gaming well enabling a good experience with most multimedia content with the added bonus of those quality front facing speakers.

    LG Nexus 5X : Camera

    Finally onto the camera. Google have always produced good smooth running devices with their Nexus line of phones but the one thing that had been lacking was the quality of the camera. Most users wanted the pure android experience and so in-turn tolerated the below par camera performance.LG Nexus 5X Camera - scanner

    The LG Nexus 5X has the same Sony sensor found in its older brother the Nexus 6P with a 12.3 MP camera , ½.3” sensor (Sony) , f2.0 lens, dual led flash and laser autofocus assist with the ability to shoot 4k video. This is a very versatile camera and seems to overcome the main problems in previous devices. All video and photo capture is done through the standard Google camera app which is a little limited but extremely easy to use. Make use of the HDR plus mode and the LG Nexus 5X will produce good picture quality in most lighting conditions except for really low light where most smartphones camera will struggle.

    All in all LG Nexus 5X is good all-round device. It has and excellent display, camera and good general user experience for a midrange device.
